Car Seat Covers

Car seat covers provide comfort in cars by providing a comfortable, soft, and attractive appearance. They must also be easy to clean, resistant to light and UV radiation, easy to handle, breathable, and have a high level of durability. These requirements mean that multi-layered textile fabrics are used for the manufacture of seat covers. These consist of a face fabric, a foam layer and a scrim backing fabric.

The resulting fabrics often have many properties which are difficult to achieve with single-layer materials, and this is why the requirements placed on them by car manufacturers are quite high. The most important of these are resistance to abrasion, soiling and mildew growth, as well as an appealing and decorative appearance. In addition, they should have a good level of durability, and the cut parts must be qualitatively joined together.

Textiles which fulfil all of these requirements are currently in demand for car seat covers. Increasingly, these are being made of fibres that have additional special properties which are especially interesting for this purpose: health benefits, fibres from renewable resources, fibres releasing fragrant substances, and more.

Many of our picks have a polyester blend for durability, and they’re available in a variety of shades and styles. They’re also easy to find, and most can be put in the washing machine (though check the care instructions). Others are crafted of leather, which is luxuriously plush but may not be as durable; or neoprene, which can offer a snug and waterproof fit but doesn’t breathe as well as linen or cloth covers.
